Update: Joined A Gym, Tracking My Foods daily, 7year Anniversary...etc..

Wednesday, September 04, 2013

Hey Sparkers!!

Let me first say "Thank you" for reading my blog...

Well lets see... Since being told I was a pre-diabetic at first I kind of just put blinders on for about a month honestly. However, I know that I have a doctors appointment next month & want to have better results when I visit my doctor.

Me & my husband just celebrated on Monday, September 2 our 7 Year Anniversary of being together. So, you ask "What did you guys do???" Well we JOINED A GYM on our ANNIVERSARY!! I think this was the BEST GIFT we could give each other ~ Gift of Health, Gift of Getting Fit 2gether!! So, they offer boxing & zumba classes at the gym.. Last night, we both took boxing emoticon emoticon Yes, this was the REAL DEAL!! They had punching bags, speed bags, the big gigantic tractor tires that you have to flip over, big ropes, jumping ropes, etc... You name it this Boxing class had it!! This boxing class kicked our A$S!!

I woke up sooooooo sore today.. This class is not for beginners at all but I am going to try to take it once a week on Fridays b/c it was too much on me this morning. That way I can sleep in on Saturday if I'm toooooo sore. They also have ZUMBA!! So tonight I put my dancing emoticon on.. LET'S ZUMBA emoticon
I'm looking forward to the variety of workouts instead of just being a machine. I think the variety will keep me wanting to be active & not get bored. So, I'll have to post how Zumba goes.

Next note, so to really lose weight & be accountable- I began tracking my foods in the app called "My Fitness Pal" and I track my exercise in another app "Map My Fitness". I love the "My fitness pal" because I can scan my bar codes or type in ANY FOOD and it finds it with all the nutritional information. I used to write in a journal but then I thought not everywhere I go will take my journal but I will take my PHONE everywhere I go, so it just makes it sooooo much more easier to keep up.

So, I have NO EXCUSE not to know. It's cool because it tells me how many more calories have left for the day or I can put meals in to see where my calorie count will be. Then the "Map My Fitness" app is great because when I walk outside on my daily breaks it tells me how many miles I walked & calories burned. I think it's really great, you can also track food here but can't scan bar codes so I don't mind using the 2 apps.

Also, you can use the my fitness pal online if you lose your phone or don't want to track on your phone.

Well I've typed long enough but just wanted to say that "I'M PRESSING ON!!!" I'm NOT GIVING UP!!!

congrats on the gym and the anniversary. Seems we are doing parallel paths. Hubby and I joined a gym together as well, the YMCA. I am off my metformin for diabetes now. Tracking my food, my blood sugar is stable and my doc is thrilled. Best of all, my hubby who has a really bad heart is actually exercising and sort of complying with food, its a by degrees thing with him, but thats ok, he is not sabotaging me, and even slow progress is progress right?

emoticon Now that's a nice a gift worth emoticon shouting about. A gym membership is the best emoticon a couple who wants to be around for the Golden Anniversary. I'm happy for the two of you. Happy 7 years of love and happiness. emoticon emoticon emoticon Here's to you and your Boo Getting emoticon fit together. You two might want to check into a MUD RUN. I think that would be a great way to celebrate your 1st year of marriage. A emoticon would be nice. Something else to work towards. I found that women who train with their man and find a common ground in training will be successful with their weight loss goals. You can do it!

when I heard from my blood tests, it said I was pre diabetic also, and I was really bummed about it, at my doctor appointment, he told me, I was doing very good, just to watch fats, get lots of exercise, cut simple carbs, and this I have been doing all along, so I guess I will continue what I am doing, any form of the word diabetes is way too scary, so we both have to take care.
boxing sounds like a blast, are you teamed up with someone your size and skills? I take zumba every Thursday, and I love it, I am no dancer, but I do shimmy and shake and get lots of movement, you will love it.

emoticon I will look for you at MyFitnessPal! My phone cannot scan, but I do track my Food over there sometimes. The Community Support is OK, but the Articles here are way better than the Information on MFP.

Excellent! Glad to know you are continuing the journey to fitness. It is HARD, but you and I both know that it is the only way... I do NOT want to have diabetes, and there is a strong family history. And I know you don't either! My sister is pre-diabetic, and has been able to control it with diet and exercise. Nothing really strenuous - she did finally join a gym, but I don't think she works up the kind of sweat we do! I can wring out my clothes! But at least she's got it under control, and that is what is important. Congrats to you & Eric on 7 years together - that is a great anniversary. I'm glad the boys like Atlanta - and hope you are getting all settled in. Will be looking for you!
