I made my September goals and signed up for my C25K class that starts next Tuesday. One of my goals was to run 3 X a week.
In a previous blog I mentioned that DD#2's volleyball coach was "shaking" some things up with rotations, etc. Apparently the varsity team (DD#2 is on junior varsity) was having the same problems (they lost 6 in a row) and when I picked up DD#2 from practice last Wednesday, she said she was now on varsity!
The varsity coach called her over before practice and told her to bring her uniform to the locker room the next morning and had told another girl on varsity to also bring her uniform in to give to DD#2. So now DD#2 is on varsity and this other girl is on junior varsity. It was kind of a "cold" way to do it, but I guess at this level of high school sports, to coaches don't mess around.
It was kind of awkward at the game the next day because we've known this girl and her parents for years. The mom was ok, but apparently the dad called and "cussed out" the coach (according to the mom). At that point, I wasn't really sure what was going on and DD#2 doesn't get into any "gossip" or "drama", so I don't know what happened to cause this change, but DD#2 has been playing really well and works really hard. She also has a good attitude and is just an all round "good player"! I'm glad that all her hard work (she does a lot of practicing and conditioning on her own time too) has been validated. She played awesome on Thursday night (I thought she would be nervous and feel some pressure, but you couldn't tell!).
So, now her game schedule has changed and she'll be playing on Tue/Thurs, the same day as the class. I was able to get a refund, but I'm a little disappointed that I wont' be able to take the class, but there's no way I'm missing DD#2's games!
My sister and niece were thinking of taking the class with me, so maybe we can come up with our own "class". If not, I'll just do something on my own to get in my running 3 X a week.
This past weekend was very busy. We celebrated DD#3's 13th birthday (which is actually today) at the resort my sister works at. My eating over the weekend was really bad, but I got in a lot of exercise. We did a lot of walking around Saturday & Sunday. On Monday, DD#2 wanted to run and since the rec. center was closed for Labor Day, we ran on the outside track. It was really hot and she struggled to get in 1.5 miles when she can usually do 2+ easily (she's used to being inside!). I ran 1 mile straight and then walked/jogged another 1.5 to 2 miles (lost count again). I also struggled, but it was really hot on the track with no shade!
Yesterday DD#2's volleyball practice was cut short because they're doing some work on the gym, so she wanted to run again. DD#3, the dog and I dropped her off at the rec. center and we walked the dog while she ran & shot some baskets. We walked on the hilly trail for about 40 mins. I also cut grass before and after we went to the park.
Tonight we're grilling turkey burgers for DD#3's birthday (her favorite), so we'll have a nice dinner, but I won't be able to run. Tomorrow DD#2 has an away game about an hour away, so it will be a long night.
I'll try to get in some exercise on Friday, but I will need to get ready for my weekend trip. I'm driving to Alabama (about 2 1/2 hours) with my mom, oldest sister, cousin and aunt for a wedding reception for another cousin's daughter (I have a very large extended family with a lot of cousins!).
So it will be a busy rest of the week and weekend. I'll just do the best I can!
On a positive note, I lost .6 lbs. so at least I'm heading in the right direction!
