Bad news/good news

Wednesday, September 04, 2013

Well, this was an eventful morning. I was supposed to get my grocery delivery between eleven and three today. The delivery man showed up at twenty to eleven, while I was still in my nightgown cooking breakfast. In the process of setting down the bags he knocked over a can of bacon grease, which went all over the stovetop. In the process of trying to intercept the can I brushed my fingers against the skillet and burned them. I also got grease stains on my nightgown. The delivery man slunk out the door rather quickly. Luckily I know how to get grease stains out (rub with shampoo before laundering), or I'd be REALLY p****d.

However, while trying to get my teeth ungritted after that, I got a Facebook reply from Bobby Flay! Believe it or not, Ms. Black Thumb here gave him gardening advice. He mentioned on TV this weekend that deer keep eating his herb garden at his place in the Hamptons. I told him to interplant it with rosemary. Not only would he get another awesome culinary herb, but it's a deterrent to deer. They hate it and won't go near it (maybe they know how good they taste with it?). He thanked me for the suggestion. Whether or not he tries it, I'm thrilled he took the time to reply.

Now it's late (for me) here, and I'm watching Chopped with sports stars playing for charity. I just have on question:

Is a racecar driver really an athlete?

So sorry your day started out bad, but I'm glad it got better.
I think Danica is an athlete as much as any of the others...it takes a lot of strength to handle a race car (I have several uncles and cousins who race).
I liked that episode too.

Forget about the spilt bacon grease. A reply from Bobby would make my week!!!! Plus think of how many other people you assisted by offering that tid bit of information. Now I know how to keep deer out of my garden if the problem ever arises. Thanks Hun. :)

Hope your fingers are O.K. Good question about the race car driver being an athlete. They have to have a strong upper body and a quick mind. I would say they are a upper body athlete only, lol.

Better that the grocery guy came too early than too late. At least you didn't have to wait all day for him to show up. I know he was early, but better early than late.

Sounds like that in spite of the bacon grease you had a pretty good day!

Hope your fingers are better and the night gown saved. I watched the same episode of chopped and I am not sure about the race car driver being an athlete. I know they have to train and there is a lot of competition. Who knows any more?

Oh, no! Very scary, and the burn had to happen on your week off! Clumsy delivery guy - boo, hiss to him (and his lack of helpfulness). I hope you heal well and quickly - burns on one's FINGERS must be terribly painful and disabling! emoticon Say, it's good to know about shampoo and grease (I've struggled with those degreasers)...and look at you, hearing from Bobby Flay about the rosemary suggestion! That's so cool... emoticon and I know he'll put the rosemary to good use! Well done!!

Did you call the store and let them know of the accident? I'm shocked he didn't at least attempt to help you clean it up!
