Dealing with the unknown

Tuesday, September 03, 2013

My husband has kidney failure. We decided to do peritoneal dialysis at home. I am okay with the procedure and order supplies. I also do his tracking. I try to attend as many of his appointments as I can. I hired a housekeeper to focus on cleaning the areas that he uses, especially for dialysis.

He has fears. One fear is infection. Another is that this technique will not work and he will have to switch to hemodialysis. He frequently fears the end is near.

I am trying to keep positive. I explain that his weight, blood pressure, sodium, phosphorus, potassium, and other things affect his output. Sometimes you just need faith and hope. Focus on what is now. Only God knows the future.

I can see where he would be really worried about that. I hope that he does share his worries with you so you can support him in that way as you do in all others. Prayers to keep you both strong.

Saying a prayer for your husband and you. Some things are in God's hands. You are doing great with the things you can control. emoticon emoticon
