My birthday was last week. I've always loved my birthday. Not the actual celebration itself but the start of a new year that it symbolized. It was the first week of school in a new grade, new teacher, new clothes, new school supplies.
I graduated HS and college more years ago than I care to admit. I now try to avoid "celebrating" my birthday, but I still look forward to the day. The start of a new year. It's just like New Year's Day to me.
Of course, I wonder why my birthday, or January 1st, has to be the start of something...anything. Why can't today be the start?
Regardless, today is the start. Not of a new me, but a new focus. A little less calories eaten each day; a little more activity than yesterday. Yes, I can do this.
