Doctor's Appointment

Tuesday, September 03, 2013

I had to wait a month or more for an appointment to discuss my really high heart rate with my doctor.

My resting heart rate is around 60-70 beats per minute. So how can my heart rate get to 174 when jogging intervals, when I've been exercising vigorously for several YEARS? Why is TC's heart rate 130 when mine is 170, and I'm 8 years younger?

Well, no answer at my appointment today, but I have an echo stress test (I think that's what it's called) with a cardiologist. My doctor wants it done before I go on the Peru hiking trip in 2 weeks.

Other than that, a very satisfactory appointment, other than being shamed for putting off my mammogram and bone density tests. emoticon

I'm sure everything will be fine with the cardiologist but I'm always pleased when I'm taken seriously.

Wow, I didn't know you hadn't seen a doctor since your heart-racing incident. I'm glad they're taking it seriously. Don't be surprised if you don't get any real answers, though. Sometimes the diagnostic procedures can be really frustrating. I wish you all the best.

Well, I think it is important that you go to the cardiologist and it is great that you are doing it. At the very least, it will give you some peace of mind for your hiking trip.
