My diet goal this month

(Note: I hate to say "diet" because I'm trying to make this goal a lifelong thing! Maybe I should say my "healthy-eating goal" instead?)

Anyhow, my goal this month is to focus on getting the right balance of carbs, proteins, and fats, with a special emphasis on protein. I just do not get enough protein on a daily basis, if ever. I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't like eating meat all that often. I do best with fish, then chicken/turkey, and last pork and red meat.

I like beans as a veggie protein source, but they sometimes cause some digestive issues. I'm going to try giving them an extra soak and cooking them differently to see if that helps. I'm also looking to introduce other plant-based proteins into my diet more often.

So far today I'm on track with protein (a first!!) and actually carbs and fats, too. Let's see if this makes a difference in a month!

    It will make a difference! How about quinoa? Or, I just learned that nutritional yeast has a lot of protein. I bought some at Woodmans in the natural foods aisle.

    FWIW, the Pure Protein Revolution brand of bars now says they are gluten-free on the label. Might be worth looking at--each bar has 15+ grams of protein! emoticon
