On Friday morning they released my son out of yet another mental hospital and after spending the entre day trying to reason with him, replace SS card, calm him, fill meds, reassure him, feed him and get his apartment back together, he tried to attack his father at a restaurant and I realized his medications were not working and he was not able to function safely on his own.
I called the local National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and got some excellent information. Next, my husband and I filed an Application For Emergency Admission For Evaluation and an Application for Involuntary Evaluation. The police picked him up and he is being evaluated. We are waiting for a court date and hoping anxiously that they can find a live in facility that will help him. It is frustrating that things had to progress to this point, and it seems that the agencies do not interface enough. However, they are trying to help and they have responded. Not a perfect system, but we are grateful for the assistance.
