A Sign of Success

On Saturday, I needed to do some shopping. The shop is a 5min drive from my house, but I decided that I would walk. I sunscreened my daughter, and got the stroller out and we headed out.
It took us just under a half hour to get there. I felt good! I got the few things I needed and b/c my daughter was so good, I got her some dried apple slices (which she loved) instead of cookies.
We then stopped off at a Timmies, mostly for the AC. It was so hot and humid out I was sweating buckets! We got a small smoothie. My daughter got 1 timbit and I got a bagel. We shared the smoothie and I'm happy to say my daughter was more interested in the dried apple slices than and smoothie than she was in the timbit. :D
Once we were done (and after my daughter had won the hearts of everyone in the dining area!) we headed out again. We live in a suburb with lots of winding and turning roads. I saw a road and thought it would take us home in a different way. Boy was I wrong! We got lost. We eventually made it out to the main road just outside the suburb and I decided that instead of walking back, might as well just keep going forward.
Our 25min walk home turned into over an hour. We saw a park on the way and my daughter wanted to play, so I let her. We got home just over 3 hours after we had left.
Here's my sign of success. I thought for sure my legs would hate me. That they would tighten up and I'd be limping before sundown. They didn't. They were sore, oh yah, but being on my feet, walking, for 3 hours would have normally required pain killers and a hot bath. On Saturday, all it required was a light stretching.
This makes me happy. Even if the scale isn't moving, my body is moving much better than it did. I'll take it :)
