Body Fat Calculator

Sunday, May 06, 2007

So, I was looking around and did quite a few body fat calculations to see if the results would vary much. My body fat percentage is roughly 26%. It doesn't fall into the obese range, which is surprising because everything else freaking does! LOL. But what I thought was most interesting was that my lean body weight is 178 pounds. From what I've been reading, my ultimate goal should be about that.

It's weird because when I was in high school and weighed 160 lbs, I was SKINNY. Like bones sticking out skinny. I always wondered about those "healthy weight ranges".. because when I weighed 175 lbs, I felt I looked best... healthy and thin, but not sickly. It's weird to me that supposedly I should weigh between 130-150 lbs. I've always been curvy and that is never going to change. I think if I ever got that skinny I'd look sick. So, after I hit my 200 lb goal, I'm going for 175 lbs and I should be done. But I'll tackle that hurdle once I get to my goal weight.

If anyone is interested in calculating, this website is really neat. It gives you a lot of useful information based off the info you provide: http://www.hussmanfitness.org/
bmrcalc.htm

You will need to know your body fat percentage, which can be calculated here: http://www.inch-aweigh.com/cal

Post your results if you'd like to share! I found it to be somewhat motivating!!

Wow that was hot! The first one told me that I wasn't obese, and the second one told me I was of average weight! Flattery will get you everywhere! I was at 29% bodyfat, and it said my target weight was 157. When I was 157, I considered myself fat and was attending Weight Watchers...I was I want to say 20...and I wish I were so fat now. It is good to know, however. It said I had about 60 lbs to lose but I keep thinking it's more like 80...of course I've lost some since that original figure so we can average it to 70. Man, that's still a big number. Better to think of it in 10 lb increments! Thanks for the links though, those were cool!

OK, those two links are two of the coolest weight-loss tools I have seen. According to the links, I am 29% fat and my lean weight would be 185. My goal was 175, so that totally works for me. The info about how many honest calories (and I have to stress the word honest to myself) is a do-able 1680-2040.

Thanks so much for the helpful links.

By the by, I love the color scheme and layout of your Sparkpage.
