Survived Opening Weekend

Monday, September 02, 2013

College football season started this weekend, and my beloved Texas Aggies were able to outmaneuver and withstand those wily Rice Owls, who looked pretty good against us, despite being big underdogs.

I was a basket case before and during the game, but survived the vicarious adrenaline rush...

It wasn't until Sunday morning when I heard gun shots that I realized the OTHER big opening of the weekend....HUNTING season, more specifically, DOVE hunting season opens on September 1, even if it IS still as hot as blue blazes... It seemed odd to hear guns being fired but I DO live on the edge of town, and it's not illegal.

But doves are a lot of work to eat... and I, for one, am glad that I don't have to clean or cook, or serve them...

Venison, on the other hand, is another story, but deer season won't open until November! emoticon

venison is also really lean. plus we pair that with the added seasonal fresh veggies and we get sevearl good meals.
