One more step in the right direction :)

Monday, September 02, 2013

I went grocery shopping today and got a lot of fruits and vegetables and cooked some stuff for dinners and lunches during the week. I have a lot more stuff to make throughout the week too. I made mini chicken pot pies, salmon filets, couscous, and cauliflower casserole. I'm attempting to not eat ANY fried foods this month and preferably not any fast food but fast food places do have some healthier options that wouldn't be so bad. Fast food has become one of my horrible habits. I make the excuse that it's just as cheap and faster to hit the fast food restaurants than to go home and worry about cooking. Well, that's what I'm trying to prepare against. I'm trying to get stuff ready that I can just warm up and eat without much trouble. I need to turn over a new leaf in order to lose my weight and hopefully this is one step I can stick with :)

It is best to avoid fast food entirely if at all possible, even though it is hard at first. I started using my crock pot again to make it easier to cook most days, because by the time I got home from work I would never feel like cooking. So I dumped everything in the crockpot in the morning instead and dinner was waiting when everyone got home. Another trick I used was to immediately portion out the servings and always put 1or 2 into the freezer (after it cooled) to eat later. I would take them to work for lunches and because I had a variety of different meals frozen it didn't feel like I was eating leftovers every day. Much healthier than anything at the fast food places!
