Now that it's not so hot I've resumed my walking exploration of Italy. Today I went to a particularly beautiful medieval town called Urbino. It is on a hilltop and the center of the city is restricted to cars to preserve the cobblestone streets and the atmosphere. Probably it's restricted for other reasons too, like pollution and traffic, and it's great for my thighs because it means I had to walk up the giant hill to explore the town! 11,000 steps today and boy am I tired, but it was so worth it.
Steps, steps and more steps! Incidentally, Urbino is the birthplace of Raphael, the artist and is a huge university town.
Just in case any of you are motocross fans, we stopped in Tavullia on the way to see the home of Valentino Rossi- The Doctor!
