Grass fed beef and free range chicken eggs

Sunday, September 01, 2013

The Lord turned the thermostat down tonight! 61 degrees! With a nice breeze! Than you God!

I started exercising with Leslie Sansone Saturday. It felt so great. I even slept better!
I only do one mile at a time, 2 miles Saturday, one mile Sunday.
I wanted to do a 2nd mile Sunday, but as I was cleaning, re-arranging and de-cluttering..........my body said "ouch-ouch-ouch" :o(
And the fluid retention in my legs, feet and ankles returned big time..................sigh.
I am no longer invincible- it catches up to me faster and faster.
Stiffness, neuropathy, inflammation, MS. I hate limitations.

We've been eating grass fed beef! Yum! I had a burger for breakfast, and liver for dinner. Yesterday we had farm eggs scrambled. The kids and I have decided we like the taste of eggs from chickens who eat bugs! :o) And the grass fed beef is delicious! We are HUGE carnivores here. Just looking at the cattle on our beef farmer's web site makes us hungry! LOL!

Not going to weigh tomorrow. Carbs were too high this past week.
I'm going to work more on adding exercise for now. Trial and error. Taking a day off in between. I'm also going to practice walking up and down the back steps from my 2nd floor bedroom. Getting ready for when puppy comes home and we have to put her out hundreds of times for the 8 weeks of house breaking.
Doing steps for me, is definitely exercise!

Puppy comes home 9/13- yes Friday the 13th. Very fitting since I have to drive for 4 hours with my husband that day to get her. My husband is not a DH, he is a GH (grumpy husband). Think horror/fright movie music as we drive. He has control issues.
I once saw on Divorce Court where Judge Toller told an older husband like mine to just go home, stay with his wife, "ain't nobody going to want either of you now!" LOL!!
Yup that's us. :o)

I haven't tried grassfed beef yet... but our local university sells their stock from the livestock husbandry program, and they're mostly grassfed. They've got a big paddock full of Angus-crosses out there right now that I'm drooling over! LOL steak on the hoof!

I do buy all my eggs from a local producer. They're amazing. The color of the yolk is as different from a grocery egg as the color is between a school bus and a lemon! and they taste wonderful. He doesn't sell his hens, but there's another lady out his way who does, and I'm planning to try them out when I get room in our freezer. Chickens DO taste better when they're out picking bugs and doing chicken things!"

My DH is way too often a GH. He is already the kind of GOM (Grumpy Old Man) who would yell at those kids to get off of his lawn, and would keep any of the baseballs or frisbees that landed there! Sadly, he's only 46 - way too young for GOMS (Grumpy Old Man Syndrome).

I do the farm fresh cage free chickens, get them locally from an acquaintance. I use raw egg in my protein shakes, so I think they're safer than the store bought ones.

As for the grass fed beef, I've had it - however, what I get here doesn't have enough fat in it and it's kind of dry and a stronger taste. I buy chuck and sirloin, grind it in the food processor - give it about 20% fat and it gives it a wonderful flavor, plus doesn't dry out.
