Enchanted Rock is a huge pink granite dome that rises 425 feet above ground and covers 640 acres. It is the second largest batholith in the United States made up of a single intrusion. Most batholiths are made up of several intrusions and when combined are much larger than Enchanted Rock. Anyway, it is pretty awesome.
The first part of the walk is a half mile climb to the top and then a hike back down.
The remainder of the 10K walk is a walk around the base of the dome. There are some pretty neat rocks along the trail.
This is the back side of the dome.
Enchanted Rock is approx. 20 miles north of Fredericksburg on FM 965. It costs $7.00 per person to get in. It is well worth the cost!
