Eating out.. Help!

Sunday, September 01, 2013

So every Sunday we have a family meal at my mom and dads house, it's always a roast dinner but the meat varies.
We had beef today, and my mom knows I'm on a diet so did extra veg for me:)
I had half a plate of veg. My mom put me a big dollop of mashed potato, so I had a few spoon fulls. I did have to have a Yorkshire pudding though:)
So I came home and logged the calories on spark and was pleasantly surprised that despite being full, it wasn't as many calories as I thought! But it doesn't stop me feeling like I've slipped!

My next problem: in 2 weeks we go away for 5 days to Cornwall and I'm hoping that even though I won't be doing much exercise other than lots of walking, I'm hoping my diet isn't going to suffer when we're eating out!

I thought worst comes to worst I don't lose any weight, or even put on a lb, as long as I come home and get back to normal (with your support.. Don't let me quit!) then ill be ok!:)

I'm going to do extra exercise from now till then and make sure I eat a balanced diet so when I up my calories my body won't store them all! Lol:)

Talking for no reason again now:)
Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Just do your best, Laura! This is something I regularly struggle with! It's a mind-game.

And if you get a chance to work out, even if only for 10 minutes, try it! You'll feel less guilty. Just try your best and find balance... it's a challenge that I deal with regularly.

Be careful, also, not to expect perfection! If you do, you'll only be disappointed. Baby steps...small goals. You can do it!

I road trip with my kids every summer to their grandparents and it is always hard to eat properly while on vacation or a trip. The best advice I can give is to be prepared. Pack up some healthy snack options to take with you. Go online and explore the restaurants so you know some that you would like to try and what kind of healthy options they have for you. It helps to make it a more positive experience as you aren't trying to figure out what the best option is on the fly.

Eating out & taking trips are huge challenges. They take us away from our safe place here at SP and try to drag us back to our old unhealthy habits. emoticon

Walking is good, drink water & try to make healthy choices when dining out. I realize that this is easier said than done, but just do your best. emoticon emoticon emoticon

When you return, we'll all be there for you. emoticon

Drink water on your trip, and along with the walking - Try to pick healthier options when eating out, don't binge on junk, but pick lighter meals (: Good luck!
