I can't believe it's September 1. Time to evaluate a few things. Wow, the summer went by fast. It is still pretty warm here in Portland, so it doesn't really feel like summer is winding down, but since I start back to work in 3 days, I know it is. I am looking forward to cooler temperatures and falling leaves.
I am so happy about my weight loss for the summer, I lost 15 lbs. since school ended in June! Woo Hoo! That is more than I thought I could lose!
I have found surprising is that I have "only" been walking for exercise, and I have been very successful at losing weight. I guess I had it in my head that I needed to go to the gym and do at least an hour of strenuous exercise to be successful, but since my ankle and foot have been bothering me, I have been walking no more than 45 minutes daily at a moderate to slow pace, and it is working beautifully! No more gym fees (35.00 a month), no more personal trainer fees (a year ago I spent over $600.00 on a trainer!
), and no more driving and finding a parking place in a crowded parking lot. I have just been squeezing in two twenty minute or so walks a day. Easy Peasy.
Keeping myself busy (well, at least "occupied") has also been a great strategy for me. I have been making "to-do" lists, keeping them short so I don't get overwhelmed, and I started a new hobby of painting rocks, which is fun! My overeating has really decreased since I have made an effort to stay busier, plus it has helped my depression quite a bit.
Today my goals are:
research blueberry recipes (we picked some yesterday)
I hope everyone is doing well and having a healthy day! We can do it!
