It has been a while since I found/made time to post a blog!

I am mostly healed from my jaw surgery. My chin and lower lip are still numb and it kind-of hurts to touch the right side of my chin/lip (makes washing my face or brushing my teeth difficult at times). I was released last week to start eating real food. I am trying to take it slowly, as sometimes it still hurts to chew and the left side of my jaw pops horribly (hopefully, that will diminish as my muscles rebuild strength). I can tell I've been eating more, as my weight was back up some yesterday.

I went to the integrative health dr in July. They changed my meds from Synthroid to Nature-Throid. They also ran a test for MTHFR, a genetic marker for nervous and autoimmune issues, and emailed to add a cream that I use for that. The women in my mother's family have all had problems with depression and anxiety, and I suppose this is why! I can tell that I have been less anxious and less moody since using the cream once a day. I go back next week to find out the results of the T3, RT3 and antibodies tests as well as the new levels for TSH and T4. Glad I made the change to this practice and hoping I can get my daughter in so we can find out what is going on with her anemia and how to help her!

School has started back full force, with a new position that leaves me exhausted and sometimes frustrated. I feel like I don't know what I'm doing. I went from self-contained EC to a middle school resource position where I also teach a math class at each grade level (7th and 8th). Trying to figure out what to teach, where my kids are mathematically, and making sure I'm covering the standards has been very stressful! 7th teachers haven't shared anything with me, 8th are at least including me in emails and inviting me to meetings when I can come. Still trying to meet all of my kids and make sure they know who I am, that they can come by and see me if they need me, etc. Goal for this week is to meet all of my kids, whether I actually work with them in a class or just see them on a consultative basis, or don't see them at all because they are only seen by my colleague!

Our foreign exchange student, Anna, has been here for 3 weeks now and it has been great so far! She is a vegetarian, but has been very flexible with meals. She literally will eat anything I make as long as there is no meat, so we are good. I've made bean soups or just made things without meat (broccoli alfredo without the chicken, cheese ravioli). I told my girls I was going to send them back to Germany and keep Anna here! LOL. She is playing soccer with my oldest daughter's team and is also running cross country.

I have NOT been doing well about getting in my strength workouts or going to the YMCA. We've just been so busy with everything, I haven't found the time to go. My plan for this week is to start going in the morning before work again and maybe in the evening while the girls are at soccer practices.

Daily Goals:
~ focus on eating more veggies
~ focus on drinking water throughout the day
~ eat breakfast!!
~ workout
~ 12,000 daily steps
~ leave school by 4:30 daily
~ green smoothies
~ healthy lunch
~ healthy dinner:
~ no wheat!!
~ no soy
~ no peanuts
~ limit cruciferous veggies
~ 1 load Laundry
~ games and/or practices
~ post blog entry, reflection daily or at least weekly!
~ in bed by 11pm on weekends; 10:00pm on weekdays
~ up by 4:45am on weekdays, sleep later on weekends!

Calorie range: 1200-1550
Carb Range: 163-236 (aim to stay under 200)
Fat Range: 32-56
Protein Range 60-127
Fiber Range 25-40
Sodium weekend: 1,500-2,000; weekday 1,000-1,500 (increasing as I wasn't getting enough!)
Water intake: 8 or more- 8oz glasses per day
Fruits 2 & Veggies 4: 6+ per day:

Monday:
~ Labor Day holiday
~ clean up around the house
~ practice 7:00pm

Tuesday:
~ workout at YMCA before school- cycle
~ soccer practices 6:00 and 7:00- Metabolic Effect class at 6:05


Wednesday
~ workout at YMCA before school- yoga
~ walk at home after school


Thursday:
~ workout at YMCA before school- cycle and strength
~ soccer practices 6:00 and 7:00- should be able to make it to the YMCA for Metabolic Effect class

Friday:
~ workout at YMCA before school
~ Anna leaves after school with Cross Country for beach trip!
~ DD soccer game 6:30

Saturday:
~ dd soccer games 11:30, 2:00 and 4:00
~ workout at the YMCA or walk at home


Sunday:
~ dd soccer game 3:00
~ walk/jog at home
~ weekly plan

    I am exhausted just reading about all of the things occurring in your life! Good grief! Recovering from a surgery, new job responsibilities, children to raise, and let's add another child! You are incredible! Try to find time for yourself. Hugs, Laurel emoticon
