August - Month in Review

emoticon I cannot believe that today is September 1. Where did the summer go emoticon

Looking back over the past two months I feel like July was pretty loose and carefree (not planning, eating out a lot, vacation) and August was more regimented (planned, thoughtful, exercise).

What I did right in August
emoticon Had a plan. I started the Chris Powell Carb Cycling program and, when I follow it, I lose weight
emoticon Lost 3.1 lbs this month (this includes the unofficial weigh in this morning) Can't remember the last time I lost this much in a month. I am closing in on 150!!
emoticon Have been eating healthy. I have very few non-healthy snacks in my house so I am not tempted.
emoticon Started to ramp up my workouts again. Increasing the duration and intensity to burn more calories. I go back to the trainer on Wednesday and I want to be strong

What I need to improve on
emoticon Dining out. This week we were much better at eating in. We went out only twice.
emoticon Eliminating diet pepsi. I have drastically reduced the amount of soda that I drink but still have it. I think it'll take me a long time to kick this habit but I won't give up
emoticon Planning meals. Working on this. Created a spreadsheet for the week and will continue to recycle it for future weeks.
emoticon Cook more interesting low carb meals. Instead of protein, veggies, healthy fat - B O R I N G! Last night I made a low carb summer squash casserole that was tasty. I will continue searching.

For September I will continue with the things that I did well and work on the things that I didn't do well in August.

    I can relate to your Pepsi jones. I kicked it last year and I thought it was impossible. I still can't go just water, (I used to live where all the water tasted brackish and sulphur like and I just cant get that out of my head) so I drink Crystal light peach tea and I must say, I actually prefer it now. You will eventually do it by cutting back a little at a time. Congrats on your 3.1 weight loss! emoticon Let's rock September! emoticon

    Great insight into your behaviour! I love the devils and angels ;) I'm terrrrrrrrible with pop. I love it to death. So we never keep any in the house. It's as simple as that. If it's not around then I'm not tempted. HOWEVER, sometimes I will have it when I am out as a treat.

Here's to hoping that this September is fantastic!

    I'm eating really low carb (20 carbs a day). If you find a recipe that might work, let me know. My diet is pretty limited. It seems to be working in keeping cancer from growing so I'm sticking with it.

    I am not 100% no pop but very close. I do not keep it in the house for myself and am not tempted by DH's. Probably the main motivator for me is knowing the job it does on bones. We have osteoporosis in our family and my bones have already begun to thin some. I am working hard to keep them as healthy as I can. Good August, Diane!

    Good for you! Terrific weight loss for you! We love to eat out and would do it more if we could, but food I fix is much healthier and lower in calories. Try setting aside the money you save by eating in for something special--like some new clothing? or whatever you choose. You probably save $10 every time you eat at home and it can add up.

    Soda is my down fall. I try diet I notice I don't gain weight, but DH drinks regular coke so sometimes only that is in the house and I succumb. I'm going to try to do better in September although we're going for a last minute mini vacation tomorrow the plan is North Carolina but we're taking the pup and hopefully we can make it all the way in the car. I'll post pics. October I really tighten up all the way through the new year to avoid weight gain, I start in October because of Halloween candy my
DH insists we buy every year for the kiddies. Well have a nice day. emoticon

  I kicked soda for a long time, then I started drinking the blue Powerade mixed with Sprite. I like that the Powerade has vitamins in it but I don't like it full-strength. I know this is adding to my calories though. So I hear you on the kicking the Pepsi stuff. It can be tough to do.
