Things go in three's

Sunday, September 01, 2013

They say that things happen in three's well lets hope that is right and I will now get a break.
My third thing arrived yesterday my right arm has a trapped nerve in it that flares up every so often and it did it big time yesterday. A sharp pain from the right shoulder down to the elbow and I can hardly raise it at all. So 1 step forward 2 steps back again, back to old regime of resting the arm and giving it some support with the bandage again and back to the Doctors next week.
Number 1 was the Arthritis in the Neck causing headaches and eye pain
Number 2 Financial stuff that needs sorting out
Number 3 Right arm playing up.
That's it thanks I have had my 3 things I don't want any more for a while.

I still exercise but don't use my right arm I did it before when it was in a sling so I can do it again now. I refuse to let it stop me doing what I need to do with care it is possible to do the exercises after all if someone with one arm can exercise so can I, it is just a frustrating hiccup.

On a positive note I can still knit emoticon we are just starting the Stash Buster for September on the Knit it up team. I am making Slippers for the first time and they are for me. I usually make things for other people but this time I am making something for me. I have a few patterns to use and will make a pair of slippers using them all that way I have a selection of slippers to chose from. It also means I can wash a pair and have a pair to wear. So something new to try out, DH thinks it is crazy making knitted slippers but they look ok in the picture so I thought why not give it a go.

Today we lose Sky TV and have only got Freeview TV that will mean less channels to pick from and more time reading and listening to music emoticon I like that more reading and music is good there is an up side to most things, all you have to do is look for it.

Paula, I'm so sorry. I wondered what had happened to you since I haven't heard from you in a few days. Take it easy and hopefully things will settle down and get better for you. I have arthritis in my neck too and it's by far worse than anywhere else. There isn't much you can do without moving your head and, for me anyway, that became almost impossible to do. All you really can do is not move around a lot, take ibuprofen or another anti-inflammatory and wait for the flare up to subside. I also read that the best kind of pillow to use if you have arthritis in your neck is a good quality feather pillow because you can bunch it up to provide support where you need it without your neck having to bend. That's what I use and I find it to be the most comfortable.

    Paula,

Good for you, for not letting your trapped nerve, get in the way of your commitment to yourself, concerning your lifestyle change!!! I'm super inspired by that!!!

Knitted slippers are GREAT!!! My great grandma, use to make them for us, while we were growing up, and they're so comfortable and nice and cozy and warm, on your feet. However, you do have to be careful about slipping on the floors. Of course, my sister, my brother, and I use to run and slide down the hall with our slippers on!!!

Be blessed,

- Nancy Jean -

You may now get your three POSITIVE and upbeat things - I think you are really inspirational and looking forward to a challenge but also seeing the positive in it is great. I think having more time for music and reading sounds great too - I have gone on a media fast several times in the past and each time wonder why I return to the TV and/or the other forms of media.

I'm sorry you're having yet another struggle but it's great that you can still knit with your arm the way it is!

Slippers...hmm...haven't tried any of those yet...

We gave up all tv about 4 years ago and we really don't miss it - if there's something on we can usually watch it on the channel's website a couple of days after it's aired. And there's always stuff on Youtube (once you get past the stupid stuff on the front page!)

Wow, your set of three troubles really sucks. I admire your positive attitude and determination to stay focused on your goals. You'll have to post photos of those slippers when they are done so we can see.

I certainly hope that that is it for you for now! Could the flare up of your arm be related to the other strains on your body at the moment?
Can understand Sky TV going but as you say, the upside is you can spend more time reading and listening to music - things we tend to forget about when there are 300 channels to surf! Your local library can provide most of what you want free too - bonus!
It's a luxury to get lost in a good book. Enjoy.
