Week 4 update and cat

Sunday, September 01, 2013

Week 4 work was tough. On one day I could not do any exercise at all, as I left home at 6:30 and finished work at 9:30 pm.
On other days I did my morning workouts, and whenever I could an additional evening walk.

Eating went went well, but not so well as I thought, I'm up 2 pounds, so I'll have to pay more attention.
The scale played the dying battery trick again. It showed 65.2 kg yesterday, I haven't weighed so much in 2 years, so ate well yesterday, and anticipated a smaller number on the scale.
But it was even higher... - then I recalled my daughter complained she was "fat" last night and my husband mentioned something like that too. Ha!
After returning from my morning run I had DH weigh and I re-weighed myself (65.9) , changed batteries, weighed again - and this time it was 64.7.
Still above my goal weight, but just within 3% so I can start the Mischief Night Maintenance Challenge within range.

We have a cat. We haven't had a cat for 15 years or so, and I didn't want one (daughter allergic to cat hair plus I believe cats should live at least partially outdoors and we live on the 3rd floor) , but my family wanted a cat so much I gave in.
DH and DD fetched the 5-week old cat while I was on my 3-day business trip.
He was found in a box a few weeks ago on the roadside, and the family who took him in already has a few rescued cats, so wanted to give him away. He has some fleas (ouch) and conjunctivitis, now both treated, and despite all the hardship he is friendly, well balanced and trusts us. He looks funny: upper half and tail tabby, lower half white. : )

Daughter's allergy has been very mild so far. She hopes she will get used to it - I have some doubts but let's see.

I love your kitty !!! I love cats and most times I don't have any problems. but, I am allergic to certain breeds. It seems that long hair cats (the dander) makes me break out in hives and sniffles. I think that as long as you keep your house vacuumed and watch the dander, your daughter might be okay with your new cat.

What's Mischief Night? Is this a Spark challenge or something local for you? I'll have to look for it. Sounds interesting ...

Adorable cat! I can see how he will be wiggling his way into everyone's hearts. We rescued a couple of cats many years ago. We also had to turn them into indoor cats due to where we lived. One was very content with that and the other, who had been an outdoor cat, took some time to adjust but did well. I also was not a cat person then, but we couldn't have dogs at that point and the cats needed a home, so ... We were cat people for a long time because they lived well into old age!

You are doing an awesome job sticking with your food and fitness plans through your busy work season. I hope to follow your lead, as fall is busiest for me. Don't mind holding for a while, but I don't want to go backwards! Still really enjoying my jogs. Thanks for all your encouragement and advice!

What an adorable little kitten! You are wonderful and loving owners to attend to his fleas and conjunctivitis; he'll be so much happier and more comfortable now, too! I hope your daughter's allergy will pose no problems for her. They say that cats are fickle little creatures, but I believe scales to be FAR more so! Sometimes, I think they're somehow "programmed" to deliver finicky and capricious results to their owners. I'm sure you're doing just great, Kriszta - don't listen to the whims of that scale!

I'm a sucker for animals and you have a cutie of a new kitty! Glad you took him in. I'm also glad you got the scale figured out! Hm, now I wish I could use that for the reason my scale is weighing heavier.....lol. Take care and good luck with the challenge!

Don't you hate it when your scale acts up--it is frustrating!

What a darling kitty! Thank you for saving him.

What a pretty cat. You can tell it is on its best behaviour so it doesn't have to leave. Both our cats were rescue cats and they chose us when we went to view them. They know which side their bread is buttered!!

You are so meticulous about this journey you are into and I am so proud of you. I will always take a cue from you always. I am really getting delivered from the scale as the body measurements matters more to me, I did measure today and there was slight increases here and there and my waist-to-hip-ratio is now 0.83 as against last months 0.8. That slight increase took me to 'moderate' from 'healthy ratio'. Vacation starts on Monday and I hope to use the who 3 weeks for ME.
*The cat is a cutie, DH hates pets*
