Here is a picture of my friend's mom, her daughter and me. Miss Velma will be 99 years young tomorrow. Her daughter, Artiste, is our music director at church and we are also very close friends. We had lunch at Ruby Tuesday's. I did really well. I chose the grilled salmon salad and it was huge. The salmon was a 6 oz. serving, which is what my WW book lists for 7 points. I ate the salmon only and that was plenty. I had one little garlic biscuit/roll, whatever you want to call it, and I have no idea how to count that. I had one glass of unsweetened raspberry iced tea. However, since I only had a banana for breakfast I have plenty of points left for today.
It was a fun lunch and birthday celebration. Miss Velma lives with Artiste and is able to still pretty much care for herself except for cooking and such. I hope I'm half as good as she is if I ever make it to 99.
I need to comment on Miss Velma's beautiful hair. It is down to her shoulders when no in the up-do. She was also a very accomplished pianist in her day. I believe she played in New York at some point. At age 17 she was pianist for her church. Her daughter, Artiste, taught music in elementary school until she retired about 5 years ago. She is a very good flutist. We met 10 years ago when I started going to my church where she was the choir director. I joined the alto section. We became very close friends through the years.
Have a good holiday weekend everyone.
