So my boyfriend and I loaded up the car after he got off of work and headed out of town to Chico. We got to the toll bridge to pay the $5.00 fee and a few feet after pulling away we started to hear a loud knocking/rattling noise and my boyfriend pressed on the gas and the car wouldn't accelerate any further. We managed to drive a bit down the freeway to pull off which was hard to do since everyone else was going 70mph and we could barely get past 30-40mph. We made it to a Shell gas station and called AAA and were able to get the car towed back home free of charge. My boyfriend went to look at the car this morning and it makes that noise when it starts and he can hear the noise coming from the number 4 cylinder of the engine and he took out the oil dipstick and it had metal flakes at the end. He also noticed the oil is at 50% low which is odd since we recently had an oil change about a month and a half ago and 2 weeks ago we had the car in a mechanic shop to have a serpentine belt installed and all fluids were checked and all fluids were normal. We called the mechanic we took the car to for the serpentine belt installation and just waiting back to hear from them, just sucks that it's a holiday weekend so they probably won't be open until Tuesday. :( The price tag to fix the car is more than likely going to be costly but we won't know until the mechanic looks at it which is going to require it to be towed to the shop which luckily is only a mile or 2 away.
