Occupy Sleep

Friday, August 30, 2013

I suck at sleeping...always have. As a baby, I slept...and, as my mom recalls, I slept real good. As a child, I didn't like to sleep. As a teenager, I didn't want to sleep. As an adult, I don't have time to sleep.

I would emoticon to be able to emoticon! I function pretty good on about 3-4 hours of sleep a night...so I think I would be amazing on 8 hours of sleep a night and am up for the Official Better Sleep Challenge!

Personally, I doubt SP had me in mind when they said they'd have me sleeping in just 4 weeks...all the more reason I am up for the challenge!

I spent quite a few years with extreme difficulty sleeping. I finally saw a doctor regarding fibromyalgia and the pain that interfered with sleep. I was put on antidepressants to help me sleep as my pain tolerance had to be restored. Finally after 10 years I felt the pills were not helping and I had a drugged feeling in the morning and so weaned off. Eventually, I realized that part of my problem was sleep apnea and went for a sleep study. I now have a CPAP machine and have nearly perfect sleep aside from some recent anxiety regarding all my health problems, husband's health problem (Alzheimer's) and so was put on Zoloft for the anxiety and depression. Now the only thing that stands in the way of my sleep is going to bed at a decent time which I know is something I need to improve. Hope your sleep difficulties don't hang on too long as it is very bad for your overall health.

Have you been sleeping any better? Or for longer?

When my children were little I was so busy that I usually only got 5 hours of sleep. This went on for at least 15 years. Between raising kids, running the house and owning a business I literally didn't have time for sleep either. I functioned just fine, but am most grateful for the amount of sleep I am able to obtain now.

What have you been doing to try to squeeze in more sleep?
