Four Years Maintaining!

Friday, August 30, 2013

Wow, this 4 year anniversary would have passed me by, but for the lovely people at At Goal and Maintaining who track these things. Thank you!

Irony of ironies, I was attending at a seniors' residence today to meet with a very elderly client who told he that he thought maybe I'd put on a few pounds!! NOOOOOOOOOO!! I have not!! Was wearing my short white denim trouser skirt size 8 (last time this year) and a black tee with a black cotton blazer, thin white vertical stripes, and little white booty sandals with back zips: had thought I was looking pretty good.

Elderly client had been married 40 years: do you think you'd figure out in 40 years, not a good thing to say to a lady???

Asked my DH if I looked like I've put on weight: he's only been married 34 years (to lucky me) and he was very quick to say, not at all, looking great.

My clerk who was with me as a witness was absolutely amused by all of this!! She knows how hard I have to run to stay in the same place.

So: I AM maintaining, and how kind of all of you to celebrate with me.

(Now: going out to dinner, and looking to find something to put on that makes me look . . . . skinnier!!)

emoticon My guess is he thought it was a compliment - the 'ancients' know the need for a few extra pounds to maintain health as the years pass....

Congratulations on 4 full years! Great accomplishment. And it is so satisfying to know that the longer we've lived at a normal weight the more likely we are to continue to live there. Oh, we still have to be careful -- but we know that now. Never take it for granted. We're willing to work it! It matters! It's important. It's tough, but do-able. And we are doing it!!

I think your elderly client's vision is slipping. Perhaps he has developed fat eyes. It's not you. Oh, no. You are maintaining Mau-vel-ously. Absolutely. For sure.

So glad we are on this journey together!! Best regards, Marsha

I think I figured out why he said that... his eyesight has gotten blurry and fuzzy. Perhaps it is time to get his eyes checked out.

You have been wonderfully dedicated to your desire of maintaining.

Four years is wonderful! You are on your way to 5 years and the 73 percent success!

You are doing so well in maintenance!

I think the old guy was either senile or needed glasses. Yet the funny thing is that even if you know exactly how much you weight and that you have not gained weight, when someone says that you feel compelled to check yourself in the mirror.

Hope you found a cute outfit to wear for your celebration dinner. Your white skirt outfit sounded cute.

Don't let his comment make you stop wearing that outfit! I hate it when an outfit I love gets a comment that makes me uncomfortable wearing it! You know the truth, so just be proud of your accomplishment and carry on.

Agree with Meadsbay about the elderly "loose lip" problem! Our 92-year-old neighbor tells my husband he looks older now that he's lost weight, but on the other hand has never said a word about my 35-pound loss! WHATEVER.

Oh well, YOU know what YOU know -- congrats on 4 years, that is AWESOME. And all of us at Spark know how hard you run to stay in the same place....

Well, you know how white makes everything look bigger, right??? Yup, that's it, it was all the skirt!

Either that or old man needs new glasses!!!!

But big congrats on maintaining! (And definitely buy something new and slinky!)
