Routine Challenges

Friday, August 30, 2013

Now I love being in a routine, it makes life much easier but when I started sparkpeople I did not have much of a routine because of the summer time so I was able to create my fitness routine and nutrition around all the time I had. Now that I have a routine again: 3 jobs, and school. I find myself without the time to keep myself well nourished and physically active. Any pointers? I just want to keep going and make it a part of my lifestyle but it is definitely a challenge when you are non-stop go all the time.

    Plan ahead!

When you do actually cook a meal, make enough for 2 or 3 meals and freeze the extras so you can grab from the freezer on your busiest days!

You have to MAKE time for your new life style. You will always find yourself crazy busy, but you HAVE to make the time for you!

You are important....put yourself in your schedule!

Sounds like life is about to get super busy for you! I cook in large batches on my day off and freeze a lot of meals. It really helps me stay on track. I also think getting 10 minutes of exercise here and there as you can will help. It may not be what you're doing now, but it's something and will keep you consistent. Good luck! emoticon

Wow, busy girl. You need to make some time for yourself to relax and exercise.

Thank you so much for the encouragement!! I appreciate the advice I will try and do those things. Making bigger meals is a good idea, I can totally do that with soups and things. emoticon

Make larger meals and freeze extra portions. It'll be a quick easy way to keep your meals quick and healthy without having to worry about taking time to cook.

As far as exercising is concerned, I'd say you just need to "schedule" it into your day as you do anything else. For example: If you have classes from 8-12 and work 5-9pm. You should make an "appointment" each day to workout at 2pm (no excuses!) Make it a scheduled part of your day just like your classes or jobs. You have a start time and an end time emoticon

Your schedule sounds daunting! I'd stick with getting physical activity in small chunks. You don't have to work out for an hour. Run in place or do lunges on your breaks. Take 5 minutes from your homework to jump rope. It will improve your concentration. Race-walk between classes! Any little thing you can do...good luck to you.
