Savoring Precious Moments of Summer, Spark, and Maintenance! Getting excited over a tomato!

Friday, August 30, 2013

I am drinking an excellent cup of coffee and enjoying my summer blueberries. I have truly loved the fresh produce of the summer..and am savoring the fresh produce while it lasts. I had to laugh the other day as I saw some absolutely gorgeous beefsteak tomatoes. I remember driving home thinking.."My goodness, you are excited about a tomato! This is a real change from past years where you did not really care about vegetables."

I am also savoring my support from Spark People. Watermelon commented about slogging along. You can feel stressed yet reading the inspiring blogs from Spark People, can really brighten your day.

I am savoring maintenance. I was amused that I had changed my page to reflect 1 year and 10 months of maintenance. Somehow I missed a month and I am really 11 months and one year.
I am really doing this. I am happy to be the person I am now.

MaggieRose posted a statistic from the ATGM & TM team. It said that if you keep your weight to a ten pound range for 5 years, you have a 73 percent chance of keeping the weight off for good. 5 years here I come. My next goal will be the two year mark and I will keep going.

So I am savoring my life now..enjoying precious moments and healthy eating.
Thanks Spark Friends for all of your support and wonderful blogs.

What a sweet blog. "Veggie love" has happened to me too, and just last night when I urged my husband to stay home instead of going out to eat (we compromised and he got a take out salad and I heated up Posole I had made and frozen; we shared) he said, "It really is true that we eat better at home.

This space we call "maintenance" is so interesting. I am glad to be able to share it with you and other maintainers. We seem to be growing in quieter ways than we did when on the losing path. emoticon

Thank you for the blog!

You are my inspiration! I will tell you that for some of us - and maybe not you - it's always a bit of work. My mom and grandmother both worked at keeping their weight in normal range. I've worked at it, although till now, not as successfully. I know you'll do it!!

I know- summer is to be enjoyed! Savor it while you can. These days Im waking to silence in the morning w a cup of coffee and looking out my window at the ducks in the baseball field. I know winter is coming every year when they are there, but its a nice sight. Both neighbors beside me moved out so Im enjoying my favorite sounds- of just silence and crickets at night!

Congratulations on maintenance. Although a tomato is one veggie I will probably never get excited about, I have gone to some farmers markets and stands this summer to pick up fresh "freggies". I am learning to enjoy them more all the time. emoticon

I am extremely passionate about a good tomato! Always have been. I grew up in New Jersey and if you live on the east coast you know that Jersey tomatoes are the best! I no longer live in Jersey, but every summer I long for the tomatoes from the Garden State.

My daughter's favorite food is tomato. When she was little she would sit in the middle of our cherry tomato plants and pig out till she got sick. I actually have a lovely specimen sitting on my windowsill as we speak. I am making BLT's for dinner. bacon is turkey, in case you were cringing at the thought.

see that, I just typed two paragraphs about tomato, so I get it, I get it!!

Your determination warms the cockles of my heart. In my opinion emoticon . I want to follow in your footsteps. I got a bit stuck at a good weight but not good enough and have done some major planning and work to get things moving again.

What a great blog, and thanks for the shout out too. Yup, it's amazing how thrilling fresh raspberries and blueberries and strawberries and Greek yogourt (my breakfast this morning, with a cup of hazelnut coffee) can really be!!
