Back on midnights for a few shifts, which means crazy sleeping patterns for a few days. I just bought a sleep mask, we've installed an air conditioner and some light reducing blinds in the bedroom, so I am hoping to be able to fool by iron-fisted circadian rhythm! I slept so well my first year of working midnight shift. I would come home at 08:00 and sleep until at least 16:30 straight through! Now I always wake up round noon, get some lesser quality sleep for a couple more hours, then I am ready to start the day anew by 14:30. That only gives me about six hours of sleep. Not a ridiculously low amount of sleep, but I had gotten use to a good 8-9 hours beforehand. Unfortunately napping a couple of hours before work isn't an option either. Oh well, I'll get this sleep thing back on track one way or the other! I have to admit however that a Black & Tan has served a vital role as a "sleep aid" on several occasions and has worked quite effectively!

    I worked thirds for a long time and it was so hard to try and get good sleep. Good luck

    i am sure it's really tough to switch shifts, especially with a little one! sounds like you found some good solutions... hope they work great! and hooray guinness! ;) emoticon
