Doctor's visit for bad shoulder

Thursday, August 29, 2013

He ordered an MRI . He thinks cartilage is torn , Can't do a thing till he knows what's happening .

This has been hurting for years. Shots and plenty of physical therapy sort of worked. But then I hurt it badly last week. The cat was on the recliner arm and trying to sit on th e top above my head. Left arm reached back and up to stop him. Great pain and could not move my arm for hours. It was stuck. Since then it is constantly hurting. Darn.

I am so sorry this has happened to you. Sounds like a frozen shoulder (says non-nurse Nancy), which my DH had and physical therapy helped him. But that aside, I hope they find out what is actually wrong and correct it. emoticon and prayers.

Sending emoticon that you can get the answer to what is the problem and that it isn't anything too bad. I know how hard it is for you to rest it but do your best.

I have had problems with my shoulder for a few years. The doctor gave me a shot of cortisone initially. It worked for a couple weeks and then one morning I was reaching over my head to put on a sweater. I heard a loud POP and the pain was excruciating. I had an MRI and discovered that my rotator cuff is torn in half! The choices were to have therapy without the promise that it would be successful or to do PT to build strength in the supportive muscles. I chose PT and it helped a lot. But you have to keep doing the exercises for it to work. I have also learned to carry things close to my body if heavy. I have gained range of motion but can't lift anything heavy. I can feel it when I over do but it is much better. Hope things work out for you and you get some relief.

I hope the MRI shows that is something that can easily be helped. In the meantime, try not to aggravate it further.
