Dr.s Appt. Update

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

Had my Dr. appt today. The resident ortho told me that I needed surgery and would need pins drilled into the bone to put it back together. Said that he was going to schedule the procedure for next week, then he left. He returned a few minutes later with the attending ortho who looked at my hand and the x-rays and said "we could do surgery, it's bad enough, but let's buddy tape it and put a cast on it instead".

I said that I just wanted it fixed right so it worked properly again. Since the attending is above the resident, it was done his way. I go back in 4 weeks for further x-rays.

    Hey Ken,
I was just checkin in to see how you are doing. Sorry to hear about your hand. Try to take it easy even with a cast you can do damage without meaning to do so.

I would guess you will be down to some easier exercising for a while, but it's just a little bump in the road.

    Sending healing thoughts your way.

I'm glad you were able to get something done withougt having to go through surgery. Sometimes there is no right or wrong way, just different approaches. I would think that if this doesn't work the surgery could still happen? In any case, get well soon :)

That's no good-- blimen cheek!!! Residents are usually better than registrars here too.
The bones are broken and twisted and need pins. Oooo I'm so mad for you....:)

But what are you gonna do? As the people on Judge Judy say "It is what it is..." I've been waiting since 2011 for carpal tunnel surgery. Us financially challenged don't get a break.

My cardiologist was almost in tears when I pressed him about how the new angioplasty ward was going- he's waited a long time for it. he said "no one likes me because I'm fighting to get the people in with no private cover who desperately need the angiogram and pacemakers etc."

    Sorry rant rant....breathe ...calm down...

Nice wrapping on your hand!!! must have been hard to take the photo with the other hand.

    Thanks for the update.
