What Keeps Me Going During Times When I Plateau?
Wednesday, August 28, 2013
Finally, I'm starting to go in the right direction after a 2 month plateau. I lost a pound this week and am back where I was on June 5, before I took the medication that made me gain almost 10 pounds! Several things have kept me going during this time. The first is that my body is changing shape - noticeably too! That is a nice non scale victory. The second thing that has helped to keep me going is that I've decided to eat for health regardless of whether the weight is currently dropping. I'm convinced that every once in a while, my body does an internal "make over". When my body is in the process of doing this, I usually plateau. When my insides complete the "make over" phase, I once again begin to lose. The third thing that keeps me going is my attitude and mind set toward my plan for health. I don't consider myself to be on a diet. I look at what I eat as a lifelong plan of eating for health. When I reach my goal weight, I will still maintain a lifelong plan of eating for health. If I don't, I will regain my weight and all of my efforts will be wasted. The next thing that keeps me going is improved lab results and overall health. I look forward to the day when I reduce the amount of medications that I'm currently taking. Until then, I am enjoying a reduced number of illnesses and an increased amount of energy.
