Computer Problems

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

The computer I bought the end of January completely died on me yesterday. A friend of mine who knows computers couldn't even save any of the files on it. Some, I don't mind. Most of them are going to take a lot of work to re-do. I've lost pictures that I will never get back. I'm not a happy camper, but I will survive. Thankfully, I can borrow someone's computer (which I am doing now).

My friend called the company and was told that there are disks that can be ordered to correct the computer. I will take a few days to a week, however, before everything is done and I'm up and running again. I suppose the best way to look at this is that for one thing, I won't be wasting much time on the computer for awhile. And for another, I will be more select on what I keep on the computer. I will definitely print out or put on discs the things I don't want to lose.

What a bummer. Has happened to me....and my tablet died -- with many pictures. I'm starting to save things in the "cloud."

I went through the same thing a year ago. Now I back my files especially photos. It is very painful and miserable experience so I feel for you. emoticon Sometimes tech people can salvage files for a fee. emoticon

And what I learned while working in a computer company years ago. BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP - I know I leave it to dh, but as far as I know he is doing it to external hard drives.

Ok, here's what I do cuz the tension in my back is always hurting. I lie on the bed, pull up my knees, and then lower them both to the left, and then the right, back and forth for 30 times, and it's almost like having a chiro adjustment... has worked every time...

And I went for my walk, did you? And I through in some socializing, talked to 4 people.... almost felt like I talked more than I walked. They just have the pics of Halifax weather on right now... 9 hours of fog they're saying. emoticon emoticon

Patty, I'm so sorry. I've also learned the hard way about backing up my files! It's especially hard to lose pictures. Hope you can get your computer up and running again.
