Slowly But Surely, Changes are Being Made

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

I spent the day with my sister for her birthday. It was a wonderful summer day, sunny with a bright blue sky, summer comfortable warm, not hot and humid.
On the day's agenda, see the the exhibit The Brilliance of Louis Comfort Tiffany: Painter and Craftsman. What gifts of beauty there were to behold. Several I would even love to have in my home if I only could. I was also amazed by the intricacy of Dalton M. Ghetti's pencil sculptures. (you can do an image search) The ability to take something broken or discarded and turn it into something amazing just blew me away. Lesson... there is beauty within, with attention it can be brought out.
Okay lunchtime.... checking out the well hyped hot dog joint left me disappointed. Thankfully I only ordered one. What were they raving about? I had no clue.
My sister and I discussed how our ordering habits have changed. With big eyes we would order our heart's desire without a thought of what our body needed. We would clean our plates. Now we shared a dish and actually left food on the plate. We are much more discriminating, more mindful, aware of taste.
Our discussion lead us to discover that much of what is out there is just food like stuff and not very appealing. Being aware of where we want to spend our food dollars, we are opting for real food.
It was a beautiful day of discovery and indulgence of the mind.

You have gotten yourself used to wholesome nourishing food. Your "hot dog receptors" are ruined. Hooray!!

I enjoyed hearing about your outing.
