Today's fitness - a canopy tour

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

It was a short canopy tour, maybe 20-30 minutes.

But I climbed up about four storeys of stairs. Then crossed a hanging bridge. Then climbed another, oh, maybe five or six storeys of steps. Ending up 1200 feet (400 meters) above ground, on a little platform in a banyon tree.

And then I got to climb back down!

Do I burn extra calories when dizzy and fearful and exultant at the end?

Not sure if I could have crossed the bridge or might have wet my pants while crossing it!!!!

At least the bridge wasn't as long as some of the ones in Costa Rica - but there, it was all foggy and misty so I couldn't see the ground. I almost froze in the middle of the bridge, but, well, it seemed it would be more difficult to turn around and go back than to just go straight ahead and cross the stupid thing!

Lady at the hotel told me I was Superwoman for doing that, especially since "not too many people your age will do that bridge" - I laughed at that one!

Wow! I wouldn't have been able to look down either but I am sure the view was absolutely awesome. Thanks for sharing!

Oh my goodness you are brave -- waaaaay braver than I am. Don't like heights and would be vividly reminding myself of all those "vacation torts" cases . . . the complexities of jurisdiction . . . and blah blah blah. Occupational hazard which drains a lot of spontaneity out of my life: so living yours vicariously is terrific. Great pics too.
