19. For energy to live the life I want.

Yesterday, I talked about how other people see me. They see I am overweight and may be inclined to believe I am lazy or incompetent. While this may not be true, my weight does slow me down. How can I hope to qualify for a promotion if I am huffing and puffing from walking to my desk from my car? How can I focus and stay awake for my studies if I am eating poorly? Where in the world will I find the energy to take care of a house when I spend my entire day carrying an extra 80-100 pounds on my frame? Vacation? What fun would vacation be if I was too worn out to enjoy it, or too embarrassed to wear a swimsuit?

This has always been the one for me. The reason above all reasons. I am not terribly vain. Yes, I do care about my appearance to a degree, but not nearly enough to think about how that piece of cake is going to look on my hips. And there are plenty of people who love me whatever my size, so what do I care about what haters may think? I know I am competent and capable, so I do not feel held back by my weight. I am overall pretty happy (though life is not perfect, and if I had a fairy godmother, there are plenty of things I would change about myself or my life), and do not feel I need to lose weight to improve my happiness. But my weight does slow me down from living life as fully as I would like. And so, if I had to list just one reason, this would probably be the one. I want to lose weight and live healthier so that I can live more fully for the rest of my life. I want to have the energy I need to live the life I want.

To help SPARK the fire I need to get back on track, I plan to post a new reason for 30 days reminding me why I want to live healthier and lose weight.

19. For energy to live the life I want.
18. Because it is only natural to judge a book by its cover.
17. Because I know the more successful I am, the more successful I will want to be. Success breeds success.
16. To live without pain without taking prescription ibuprofen several times each day.
15. To wake up easily.
14. To be the hero of my own story.
13. It feels so much better to be in control of my sugar addiction than to be controlled by it.
12. More small clothes fit in the washer/dryer than big clothes.
11. With more strength, greater flexibility, and less weight, I may find myself in less pain.
10. When I am outside more, I am sick less.
09. To reduce my rising cholesterol levels.
08. To be a positive influence on my diabetic husband.
07. I hate my double chin.
06. So I can easily reach my goal of finishing the 2014 Fight for Air Climb in under 40 minutes.
05. Regular exercise clears my head and evens my moods.
04. I feel more in control of my life when I take care of myself.
03. I liked it better when I fit in L shirts instead of XL.
02. When I exercise regularly, I have more energy.
01. When my face is thinner, I have a prettier smile.
