learning to knit and love it

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

I have always wanted to knit and had so much trouble knitting. I have a teacher I can go to now to learn and help me along the way. I have the knit stitch down. I have yet to learn the purl stitch. I am hoping to learn that from my mentor next. I am working on a hat and scarf set plus many more items. I will take pictures of them later for everyone to see the finished projects!

I'm happy for you. Knitting is a great hobby. There is always more to learn, its never boring. I have been knitting off and on for quite a few years but there is still so much more I want to learn. emoticon

emoticon emoticon They really need to get us some knitting needle icons. Knitting is like prayer or meditation or just a good anti=anxiety med. I find it soothing and comforting and it puts my mind to peaceful gratitude.

Knitting is fun. I took a class with my best friend back in high school. We knit sweater vests using just the knit and purl stitches. Loved it. Good luck. I do both knitting and crocheting. I'm still learning stitches some are challenging. Lots of good free patterns online. emoticon

How nice to be able to learn to knit since it is something you have wanted. I enjoy knitting since I learned how to in Home Economics class back in the early '60's. However; I do other crafts too, so don't knit all the time. Best of luck and enjoy your new hobby ctaft.

Knitting is so wonderful! I must get back to it... nothing like a good pair of handmade sox. Glad you have a good teacher. We're blessed with a wonderful yarn shop. It has classes and you can drop in any time and find people knitting away in various chairs who are usually happy to help, not to mention the sales staff who will answer questions if they aren't knitted up with business.

The owner gave me a thought that was helpful to me when knitting. She said that knitting is like putting little leaves on a tree. The leaves are the same pattern, but not identical, and when you step back and look at the whole tree you don't notice any differences. This helped me to relax, find my natural rhythm and ignore little variations in stitch size.

Cool! What a fun new hobby! I crochet a little better than I knit, but I'm not exactly proficient at either one. I do have fun making little crochet stuffed animals for myself and my brother's kids.

Super! I used to prefer crocheting to knitting, but I think you get a better drape with knitting, so I've kind of switched my allegiance. : ) I still crochet, and still enjoy it for what I do with it.

I'm glad you have someone to help you - it makes it so much easier than trying on your own. I agree, there are sites with tutorials that are very helpful; which could be great for you when you can't see your mentor.

I have a pin that reads: Yarn is cheaper than therapy. I used to say that knitting and crocheting was my therapy. Now I've added seeing a psychiatrist, but hey, I still find the yarn arts to be therapeutic. : D

I can knit and crochet. I am better at crocheting than I am at knitting. I learned on YouTube how to do both. Good luck!
