My work had a volunteer meeting today regarding our upcoming season. I am glad that I volunteered for this meeting. The meeting was on leadership and was a real eye opener. It was set up so that we would understand the cost of doing business as well has our expectations in developing new business. I was shocked at the small number f people that were present. Of course I understood a lot of it as I have had my little sideline business forr years. I was also aware of the people that apparently thought that our business put a lot more in their pockets from our fees. People seem to think that every penny you charge them is going personally into your pocket.
At the market people act like I am robbing them in asking price of 5.oo for an item.....my cost for item is 3.79 plus not including my rent and time. People will look at me and offer me a dollar. Ha I can get upset. Hubby use to think we were overcharging so I drew him a picture of cost etc and he finally understood. He was not figuring in the cost of rent and our rime to get and stock the mercchandise
A couple of weeks ago a lady walked i and picked up and item (clearly marked with a price tag), asked me how much , when I pointed to the price tag and stated 5.00 she threw the merchandise remarking ....ridiculous and picked up another item going through the same thing and throwing it. She walked to the front where she picked up a fast moving item that we do not tag, but clearly marked with a large sign stating the special price. She picked it up and asked me again. I took it from her hand and remarked ridiculious to you and you are not going to throw it. She remarked to her husband that I was rude to her. My fellow seller was standing there when this happened and she was doubling over with laughter. I would not have done this but all this was breakable
