I took a walk...

Yesterday I took my car in for some repairs that I knew were going to be major. The garage is less than 2 miles from my house, so I took the opportunity to walk home, adn felt quite virtuous all day.

They had to keep it overnight, which meant that I couldn't make it to the gym this morning--my usual Tuesday exercise. So I decided to take a walk.

There is a Target not far from me, and I mapped it yesterday--it's only 1.6 miles. Hmmm, I had thought often of walking there, but never had the courage. I needed to get a couple of birthday cards, so this morning off I went, and walked to Target.

I knew that walking there was no problem, but I was afraid about walking back. I will admit that I am tired, but I did it, it wasn't bad, and I feel more than virtuous!

WIll I do it again? To be honest, probably not, unless a situation arises as did today. But I did it today!

    I understand tired! I did my first day of chores at the neighbors as my blog mentioned and had to nap and my plans for today of cleaning did not get done. Feel better now, but DH called so time to get dinner warmed up and go to bed early. Hopefully my body will adjust to this new walking routine. It is very hot in the mornings now but next week will be better.

It is always wonderful to test our limits. Once in a while.

    I live in a small town and tend to drive everywhere - when I could walk. I drive and think it is too far - then when I walk i find out it really seems shorter. Like to the library - just over a mile there and back. And right by the post office and the bank. And my auto mechanic is only a quarter mile. So why do I drive?? My excuse right now is that it is too warm out - and, of course, in the winter it is too cold and icy.

Boy, can we find the excuses!! I think you have inspired me. Good for you!!

    emoticon Walking is my favorite type of exercise. I try to get in 2 miles every day. When I do I feel great. Keep up the great work.
