Day 150 - Goal: To Run a 5K without Stopping

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

It was way too hot to walk / jog outside this morning, so I moved my activities inside. emoticon

I got on my treadmill. emoticon and listened to music emoticon

I find that if I watch TV, I get distracted and lose my balance. emoticon

Today, I did mostly jogging with some walking in between. My routine was to jog at 3.0 for awhile, walk, go up to 3.3 for a bit, then walk again. I was able to get up to 3.5 for a quarter mile. I tried 4.0 but only succeeded in going .10 of a mile. It was way too much!

I did 4 miles of this intermittent walking and jogging. I would have pressed on but my under arm was starting to feel raw from rubbing against my bra.

I am so curious as to how far I could actually go before becoming exhausted. Each time I stop, it is because of rubbing pain, hygiene issues, or time running out. emoticon

I joined a SparkPeople challenge to go from a walking / jogging to a flat out jogging a 5K. I am in my 2nd week of the challenge. I think it goes for 5 weeks. My plan is to do the walk / jog for at least 5 miles and gradually increase my jogging and decrease my walking. I think the key is to go farther than the 5K so that when I actually do the 5K, it won't feel so difficult.

I feel good about this and I do believe that I am a long distance jogger!

Here's to a 5K!!! emoticon
