New to SP, but not to this journey

While I am not new to this weight loss journey, I am new to SparkPeople. I thought I would give it a try. I lost weight a few years ago and maintained it for a long time. Then life threw me a major curve ball. Being an emotional eater, I managed to gain back almost half of what I lost. I decided last spring I needed to make some changes and began eating right and exercising. I lost about 10 pounds in spring and early summer, but then I managed to get a little slack and unmotivated. Frankly, just bored with the whole diet thing. I haven't gained any back (thank goodness!), but I still have about 15 pounds to lose. I know that last little bit is the hardest to shed, so I thought I would hang out here for some motivation. I have already joined some teams and began tracking my food and exercise. I am just going to take it day by day and start working those good habits back into my routine. It's nice to know people struggle with the same issues as I do. I know I can do this. I have done it before. I just need to get back on that wagon again.

    Hi McCookie, I read your blog and am in similar situation. I don't know how I did it, but over last summer I lost over 40 lbs. Then I maintained that weight, although I still had more to go, or I'd gain 5 or 10, but lose it again. Then over the last few months, I've gained back almost ALL I had lost. So I'm here trying to find a better way to lose the weight, so it stays off. I think I'm going to have to change my whole lifestyle, eating and dieting regularly, until it becomes a habit.

So yep, we are all in the same boat! (Well alot of us are the yo yo dieters like DLBROWN93 said. But, we can change the way we diet until we develop healthy habits!!

    Welcome to Spark (and the Outdoor People team deck!). For me, tracking food is the key to the puzzle. I can workout for days and not lose an ounce (or go up and down a pound or 2) but when I get my food under control that's when the magic happens!

    Welcome to spark I find that the tracking is the most important thing you can do here, but there are a lot of great people to give you tons of support along the way, good luck on your journey! emoticon
