Patiently slogging along . . .

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

It's one of "those" periods in my life: lots of work, lots of stress, gonna get through it. Of course I am. Matter-of-factly, actually. Not too much drama or self-pity. Done it before, anticipate I'll have to do it again in future. That's life.

But as I get through it, I'm really enjoying Sparkie blogs from people like DDORN who is having a particularly euphoric period of great cycling and music (thanks Don) and ONEKIDSMOM who has wrestled the overtime to an end without losing her fitness mojo and is giving us a new alphabet to start the school year (thanks Barb) and SLENDERELLA who's breaking new frontiers in both fitness and homemaking (thanks Marsha).

And so many others.

Living vicariously? Yup, I suppose I am, a little bit. But really, other peoples' blogs are just a reminder that we all have tougher patches and better patches. And thank goodness we aren't all experiencing the tougher patches at the same time.

That was a timely blog. I am slogging along..stressed with the start of school and moving my kids. There are not enough minutes in the day..Like you I find my exercise time to be stress free and so needed. I also find other people's blogs enjoyable reminders of happy moments.

Slenderella (Marsha) said it all, I think. I totally agree with her.

Your blogs have been inspirational and uplifting for me many times.
You have been a role model - and you have often told me the details of HOW to make it happen as you explained your motivations and your techniques -- your strategies for success.

It's surprising how important our SP friends can be to us.
We truly are a real community.

Hugs,
Sue

Just goes to show that we do not have to "slog alone", we can count on each other! emoticon

I love that you are finding inspiration in specific people and that you're naming them. I feel a little bit happier just seeing you do that!

Yeah - sometimes that's all we can do - slog on - and it often turns out to be ... not too bad.

Yup, I'm doing it hard at the moment too. I especially appreciate having a vicarious Spark summer when we in the southern hemisphere are getting through the cold season.
And it helps to be able to coast along enjoying others' success when I'm getting through a dreary bit, like now.

Hey thx for the shout out! We gotta find our Spark as best we can...if we can't be the Sun shining out, we can be the Moon reflecting and paying it forward!

And hey, I'm certainly not a-blazin' EVERY day...shoulda seen me yesterday. I have never had a problem with coffee keeping me awake...until Sunday night...tossed and turned up 3-4 times in the night and never fully asleep. Monday I lived up to the typical Monday of the Living Dead...lol!

Sometimes you just got to do it. I always used to say that a little stress didn't hurt me - that stress got me out of bed in the morning. Even now that I'm retired, I add things to my schedule until I get stressed out. That's just me.

Wonderful attitude, Ellen! Yep, there are hard patches and easier ones. We now know, though, that whatever the challenge, overeating does not help. Really. I know you know. I love your blogs, the ones with Charley and the ones based on current news/media, the ones with your soups and the ones with cross country skiing and golf. The blogs where you let us know you love bargains and red boots; that you've overcome the big C and appreciate your husband and you look really good from the back swinging a golf club. There's Canadian patriotism and love of nature and spring. You have shared so many wonderful aspects of your life. And I know behind all that is a challenging, demanding law career. You are truly amazing!! Thanks for the call-out. Thanks for sharing this journey with me. Although I may never meet you in person, you are a significant person in my life!!! -Marsha

love your perspective. You will make it thought to the other side of the tunnel. You are shining light that cuts through the darkness.

You make a great point about blogging. Good, bad or just showing up ... blogging helps not only ourselves but aids others in gaining perspective.

(Has to go blog.)

Same thing applies for those of us on an unwanted "furlough" because of tough times. Thanks for the reminder!

What's wrong with living part of your life vicariously? Better with real, live, successful people than with TV or movie stars!
