good changes

Monday, August 26, 2013

Over the last few months I have made some changes in the way I approach my weight loss. health and life in general. I didn't think it was possible to change as much as I have. I have a lot of my spark friends to thank for that. Your support, comments, guidance have all been so helpful in my changing. Some of the changes have been small like don't be afraid to ask for support. I almost quit because I was scared to ask. Not any more.

Another change was my approach to exercise I learned to make it fun and change it up once in awhile to keep from getting bored.

And I quess the biggest change is my diet plan. Here it is:

I eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day
I gave up soft drinks.
I now portion out my snacks and meals.
I limit my intake of salt and sugar daily
And increase my water
And finally cut caffine off at 8:00 at night

There is no rule as to what you "should eat" for breakfast....mix it up! I just came across some Breakfast on the Go packs in the granola bar isle; these pks consist of nuts, granola, dried fruit, etc.....or The Kind granola bars are the best one's out there. I also enjoy Quaker's cinnamon roll bar and their banana nut bar....yummy! There's more to breakfast than just cereal!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

You are making fantastic changes. Here are a few more to consider.

Drink 1/2 your weight in ounces of water a day.
Eat 1/2 your weight in grams of protein a day.
Increase your fiber amount until you get it to 35-50 grams a day. (I use either flaxseed (ground in a coffee grinder or I buy ground flax meal) It does not give you the benefit of them if you eat them whole, it just goes through your body quickly.
If "O" blood type avoid wheat flour and products from like pasta and bread, also avoid white potatoes, but sweet potato is okay. Avoid corn and corn products including vitamins and supplements you take by mouth that contain corn products. Instead of kidney beans, have great northern beans or let me know what bean you like and I will tell you if it is beneficial to you. Avoiding sugars is best as often as possible.
If "B" blood avoid chicken completely.
    If AB avoid chicken completely.
I stopped pop along time ago, but I stopped diet pop in January, so it has been 8 1/2 months. We can do this. Try green tea, ginger root tea, celery juice, pineapple juice (6-8 oz) of three of these a day, unless diabetic, than two.
