Surgery Done

Monday, August 26, 2013

My arthroscopic surgery for a torn meniscus went well last Friday. My leg was remarkably pain free until Saturday night and then it wasn't awful- just hurting enough to have to take a round of pain reliever through the night. The worst after effect of the whole ordeal was the way my throat felt after the anesthesia. I must have had a gallon of water before I could get any food down. Today, I cleaned up all the iodine and replaced the bandages and I feel ready to start a routine of very gentle exercises. I found a nice workout on

I've got the week off from work so I'm hoping to take my time to do this right.

Oh Wow, while I've been writing this, the hospital called to check up on me and to see if I had any questions. Very Nice touch, I think. They suggested one of the exercises I'd found on and reminded me to call my doc for a follow up appt.

So far, so good, I guess. Now if I can just keep myself healthy eating-wise and not gain a ton of weight while I'm so immobile, I'll be happy.

Glad to hear you are doing so well. Keep it up and you'll be back full force in no time. My post-op infection set me back a few weeks, but now (exactly two months post surgery), I am thrilled. Some slight discomfort once in awhile, but I am running again and that knee feels 100% better than the other now.
