Tell Me Sweet Little Lies

Anyone remember that song?

What lies do I want to hear? I want you to tell me that strength training is not important to my health nor to my weight loss goals. I hate strength training. There: I've admitted it to the whole world.

This torture is the one aspect of fitness I have not embraced. I have tried various methods'---gym machines, "Fit, Firm, and Fired Up" DID, push-up challenges. Nothing has appealed to me. I feel guilty, stressed, and bad about myself because I can't seem to work strength training into a regular activity and stick with it. I'm doomed!!!!!

So, just tell me it's ok. It doesn't really matter.

    YES! I DO remember that song!

    I really don't believe that you are "DOOMED!" You just haven't yet learned to LOVE Strength Training.

    Get yourself a set of 5 pound weights, and try to do one of Coach Nicole's strength training videos each day. They are all short, and it won't take but a few minutes to get it over, and done with.

    In the search box above most SparkPeople information there is a 'search box.' Type in "Learn to Love Strength Training." Go to the first article that is shown there. I would have posted the link, but there is no way to post a link on a blog, I am just now finding out.

    Anyway, read about all of the WONDERFUL things that strength training does for our physical AND mental well-being, and that might at least help you learn to LIKE it, a little.

    No can do!

    It's not my favorite either. I do Pilates and yoga, and some dance based workouts with light hand held weights. I can't do heavier weights because of nerve damage in my elbows and wrists. Have you tried stretchy bands?

    Now Now. Don't be that way about it!

    I am there with you. I don't have issues with my cardio, but lord getting that strength in.

    Just keep trying different things or best of all try to find someone to go with you!

    I find having someone to keep you on track who is determined to get that strength training in kinda wears off on you after a while!
