I completed my 7th Hotter than Hell bike ride this past Saturday. Let me tell you that it was hot. My Garmin indicates that when we started at 7:15, the temperature was 75 degrees. In the early afternoon, when I was between 80 and 85 miles, the temperature was up to 114. As I crossed the finish line, I looked for and found a beer stand and purchased 16 glorious ounces of an unknown ale. Talk about heaven!! Man that tasted so good. Eventually, I made it back to my room and after a nice bath, collapsed in the bed for a while. The funny thing is that at mile 80 I remember saying to myself, "why do I do this to myself? It's unbearably hot, I'm hurting, I'm tired, and I'm miserable. I'll never again do this stupid ride again". But, after waking up on Sunday morning, the tune changed to, "can't wait till next year for my 8th time doing this wonderful ride." I guess that deep down inside I thrive on the challenge. HOOAAA!!
