To be honest, my main reason for joining SparkPeople was to get information about nutrition for health. I've always been healthy, but not as healthy as I could have been, I'm sure. No major illnesses, accidents, etc., but I wasn't in shape and ate some of everything that looked or smelled good (except most fish and all mussels). SP truly did spark me to look at the value of everything I eat. BAM! It didn't take me long to get into a new habit of eating for life. I've eaten more veggies and fruits in the last 10 months than in the 63 years prior to SP. Pasta was always my favorite thing before. I never crave it anymore. Why? Because I absolutely LOVE all those previously "forbidden" fruits & veggies. My tastebuds are so much more happy with me!!! They were on hold before SP. I had to really concentrate on chewing more slowly (I still have a tendency to garbage-grind but it's getting better) and savoring the flavors. I'm still practicing that one, and it's getting more natural than ever before. Thank you SP and SP members! Now I'm actually looking forward to the rest of my life.
