My Aunt Doris is not the kind to go to the doctor when she's sick. She's a pretty tough lady. However in this instance, she probably should have gone. She had been having chest pain & difficulty breathing for 3 days. One of her daughters finally convinced her to go to the E.R. last night. Now we have found that she's had a heart attack.
If that isn't bad enough, what makes this worse is that my Aunt Doris is the main caregiver for her son (my cousin) who has special needs. He is 36 years old & will never be able to live on his own. My Uncle Rob is completely overwhelmed. He's been retired for several years from the Virginia Dept. of Transportation, but he goes out every day to work with his brothers, who are home builders.
We are a very close-knit family & we are quite distraught, as you can imagine.
I believe in the power of prayer & I appreciate your prayers so much.
Update: 7:30 a.m. Eastern time: God is already working miracles. By all rights, my Aunt Doris shouldn't still be here. The blockage was to her aorta, which is nearly always fatal & she has hung on for 3 days. Her heart is functioning at 25%, so please pray that heart function increases by leaps & bounds. Thank you so much!!
Update: 2:45 p.m. Eastern time: My brother & I went to see her. She was sitting up in a chair & talking & laughing with us. She said she’s feeling much better. They were able to remove the blood clot in the cath lab & insert a stent. She is still a bit pale, but I imagine that’s to be expected. They may let her change rooms tomorrow (she’s currently in a cardiac ICU) room. The cardiologist hadn’t been in to see her yet, so we’re not sure where she is right now with heart function. The doctor did say it might be about 2 weeks before we know where heart function will end up. He was not even willing to make an educated guess. I appreciate your prayers so much.
Blessings to you!!
