I did get feedback from Microsoft. I just could not do it. I DID TRY!

Sunday, August 25, 2013

I enjoyed reading it but it might as well have been written in Mandarin for the amount I understood.
I followed to the letter some of it but the language they quoted was not in my uninstall programs for the removal of Windows Essentials mine is called windows live essentials and nothing will delete.
Also NONE of the restore points can be accessed on my desk top computer that I had been using after the laptop had a black screen.

I am still hoping to go to NY but for some reason there is no response to my phone calls. I am hoping they are out having some fun holidays are almost over for the kids.

I walked 4 miles and talked to a spark friend by phone.

I am missing e-mails and getting frustrated again. DH says lets go out and buy me a new lap top but neither of us knows enough to make a good choice.

I will find some help tomorrow. Pat in Maine is off to bed.
Thanks for the support, Pat

Oh I forgot to add we get the magazine Consumer Reports and they review and rate everything from lawn mowers, computers to coffee makers. You may be able to get a good rating on a computer at the library through Consumer reports. We just ordered a high ranking lawn mower over the internet today because of their recommendation.

Pat, when you go to places like Office Depot and the such they have people there to help you. I bought my HP there (not sure if I recommend HP) and when I had trouble I took it back and they helped me with no charge. Good luck. Shop around. HUGS, Terry

I have all HP products and have never considered any other, hearing complaints everywhere. I, too, use the hubby of my friend ,, I stood in their wedding a couple years ago. He has a small shop, builds his own PC's. No matter what goofy thing happens, I just tel him,, he either comes to my house or if it is the laptop, I take it to him, one town away..$30.

No matter what you do, just do not buy from Best Buy or ABC warehouse,, especially the former, their lawsuits are piled up for the next ten years..

Talk to your friend to see what techs they go to, then go to that guy and let them help you buy or for a desktop, build you one. You tell them exactly what you want to use it for and they can build you YOUR Pc.

I don't well with the computer jargon either. They need to speak in plain language.

School started here so everyone is super busy. I hope you hear from your kids/grand kids soon.

A new laptop might be the way to go but Windows 8 will be another learning experience when you are already frustrated. I hope you find someone who can help you figure out what needs to be done. emoticon

BOY, DO I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!!!!!!!!! I've had no end of grief with my computer ever since my husband connected a router for his netbook, but whenever I try to get help, I don't understand what they are trying to tell me to do. I even called Asus (that's my new computer). The person there told me I needed to "refresh" the computer, taking it back to its original state. By the time I finished, I no longer had iTunes--that I'd been working on FOR MONTHS to be able to access the store to download tunes, and I no longer had Word---BUT THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM STILL WAS THERE: Not being able to watch a full exercise video or listen to Pandora without them "stalling out." The hammer is getting closer and closer to this computer! emoticon However, then I couldn't connect with SparkPeople, and I REALLY NEED to do that, so I'm plugging on with the computer to be able to get on with the rest of my life. emoticon Good luck with your computer challenges!! emoticon
By the way, in what region of Maine? I lived in Maine a looooonng time.

I went to a local computer repair shop. The man but not only does repairs but listened to what I wanted to do on my computer. I got great customer service. He asked what I wanted to spend on a computer, features I was interested in. He ordered and set it up, even transfered all info from my old computer. I have used him for 14 years and have purchased 1 desktop and 2 laptops from him.

When you deal with a big, name brand store you don't personalized service. Dealing with a smaller well established local "guy" you do.

All of it is so confusing unless you are an IT person. That is my opinion anyway. One day I lost my cursor and was freaking out. I tried reading the instruction book that came with my laptop but that made no sense to me at all. Luckily hubby was home and he attached the mouse to my laptop. He read the instruction book and found out that I had hit a button and told me which button I need to push when that happens. Boy did I feel dumb!! And your problems are so much more complex. I know that you said before that your DIL is good with computers and could hopefully help you so I hope you can get over to NY soon. It does get frustrating doesn't it? Hopefully it will all be worked out soon!!!

I know how frustrating this is for you. if you can't find someone to fix it, you may have no choice but to buy a new one. Usually, the sales people are pretty knowledgeable and helpful. Just be sure to let them know that you don't have a clear understanding and they may help you get it set up, etc. I'm so sorry you are having this frustration in your life!!!!

I think it is time to give up and get a new one. Talk to several people you are knowledgeable and soon you will get a sense of what suits you. Good luck.

I am so sorry you continue to have problems. I'm going to show this to Bob to see if he can help you with either fixing your computers or assist you in knowing what to get in a new one. Lots of times salesmen try to get you to buy more than you need. Do you know what operating system you are using? Like I'm on Windows 7. I updated from Vista. I am going to wait to get Windows 8.

emoticon If you can get someone Local to recommend a Trust Worthy Person either at a Store or just someone who is willing to help you make a Wise Choice about a New Computer or with fixing this one. Maybe talk to someone at the Local Library? They might be able to help or advise you.
