We tried to bike to the northern trailhead of the Katy Trail and still have not made it. The first time we tried, we ran through a patch of deadly invisible thorn and ended up having to hitch a ride back to our car. The second time we tried, the trail was clocked by tons (and I mean it literally) of hard, blackish sludge that was deposited when the Mo river flooded over the trail. Yesterday, I just couldn't make it the last 5 miles. (In my defense, I had been at work until 12 midnight the following night and we had to shop for a family barbeque. I was just beat!.)
Today we are headed in a different direction. We are starting at the MO Botanical Garden (Shaw's Garden). The garden is open to walkers before it's open to the general public, and hubby and I plan to do some power walking. There is a multi-cultural festival and Tower Grove Park, so we'll visit it if the hot weather doesn't kick the air out of our sails.
