Day 32: Empty Nester

Saturday, August 24, 2013

My daughter moved into her dorm at the university today. I'm incredibly excited for her, but I'm feeling the "empty nest" blues already. I almost wish I were an emotional eater as I want an outlet, but I guess an Advil will have to do.

I've heard it said you're not an empty nester so long as the kids still have stuff in your basement!

Yes, when a daughter leaves home feels awful. I think when my third daughter went away to college I felt physically bad for a whole week. I hope that you can put aside the sadness and focus instead on the joys of this time.

My twins leave in a month and I am looking forward to some quite time. I know I will miss them but our house is grand central station with large young men most days and nights. Mine are only 2 1/2 hours away so I will see them for Thanksgiving. I am hoping eating and planning meals without them to feed will make following my plan easier. Good Luck with you daughter she will appreciate you more. Go exercise when you get the "empty nest blues". emoticon
